How are books organized in the library?

Answer

Nonfiction library materials (including books) are organized using the Dewey Decimal system which uses subject terms to identify where an item lives in our collection. Books on the same subject will likely be next to each other on our shelves which makes browsing an excellent idea once you've located something of interest.

Our fiction is organized by genre and alphabetical order of an author's last name. They are located along the back walls of the library and the lighter color shelving.

Some of the other collections we've separated include:

DVDs are all shelved at the end of the nonfiction materials.

Short Introductions (currently off-campus) are all shelved at the end of the nonfiction materials.

New materials are highlighted in the display along with monthly themed displays.
